GEP is an acronym for Guild of Exercise aand Wellness Professionals of Nigeria. It is a registered professional organization that came to being in 2016 to carter for the Professional coordination, direction, support and advancement of the Fitness and Wellness industry in Nigeria.

GEP Nigeria is positioned as the leading health and fitness industry association which places premium on high standards of professionalism, excellence customer service and are committed to constant growth, knowledge acquisition and sharing, innovation and best leading practices in advancing the industry for consumers and operators.

GEP Nigeria serves as a forum where members organise themselves into a productive unit, sharing and implementing ideas while supporting each other towards personal and group goals and making sure professional value is decimated to beneficiaries within and outside the organisation.

GEP Nigeria at all times maintains a credible and reliable national profile while recognizing the importance of a growing industry to the Nigerian economy and maintenance of health and well-being of the Nigerian community.

To be at the forefront of the Fitness and Wellness industry globally dedicated to improving the quality of life of Nigerians physically, mentally, socially and to meet the global challenges of preventive medicine and longevity through sustainable lifestyle changes and maintenance.

AIM & OBJECTIVES:

  • GEP serves as a bridge between the Government / Corporate institutions / NGO’s and the Fitness and wellness industry in the advancement of preventive medicine in Nigeria.
  • To regulate the Fitness and wellness industry to meet internationally accepted standards.
  • To ensure professionalism of it’s members towards preventing unforeseen preventable hazards
  • To continue to develop and implement rules and regulations to guide every aspect of the Industry and proffer sanctions for non-compliance.
  • To create cooperatives that will shoulder and boost members activities.
  • To generate funds through organized activities for its advancement and support of worthy causes.
  • To organize seminars, trainings and workshops to update members on old and new trends and certifying successful participants.
  • To organize events to highlight it’s genre to the world.

Welfare Officer

Oyinkan is an experienced corporate wellness and human performance coach.
She is the Founder of Bodyworks Fitness Nigeria. Oyinkan holds a Master of Business Administration from Leeds Beckett University.

She has taken courses in Human Energy Management from Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute and Pilates level 1 & 2 Mat with Stott Pilates.

She writes for various publications and hosts the Fitness segment on Health Matters on TVC.

She believes strongly in each person finding the right balance that works for them in everything they do; Eating, Working out and Resting because we all different.

She loves eating and experimental cooking. She is an IREP certified Fitness Trainer and a Fellow of the Institute of Registered exercise Professionals.

Joel Uzamere (FIREP)
Protocol Officer

Joel is a serial entrepreneur with companies and initiatives such as The Institute of Registered Exercise Professionals (IREP), Inshape Fitness Solutions and The Fitness Games, amongst others in the fitness industry.

As a Master trainer(LEVEL 3); he has been helping people with their health and fitness goals for over a decade now. He specializes in Doctor’s Referral programs, Personal training and Corporate wellness.

He is the brain behind BoxIT, and a fitness consultant for many high class individuals and top notch organizations such as IBM, P&G, Unilever, GTBank, Total Health Trust to mention a few.

His qualifications include; a BSc. Hon. Business Admin, Diploma Computer Engineering, Certification in Health Club Management, Active IQ Doctor’s (GP) Referral Professional (UK), CYQ Level 3 Personal trainer (UK), CYQ Level 2 Gym Instructor (UK), FIRST AID & CPR, Instructing Mixed Martial arts and he is also a member of the UK Registered Exercise Professionals and a Fellow of the Institute of Registered Exercise Professionals.

Roseline Eyenike
Treasurer

Roseline also known as ReeFit is a four time marathon runner with a number of run records under her belt.

A cardio queen with interest in yoga, weight lifting and zumba.

She enjoys all forms of sport and adventurous enough to try her hands.

Roseline is the Secretary at Bridge Pacers Sport Club.

Her mantra guide is: “what doesn’t challenge you, won’t change you.”

Jane Amuta (FIREP)
Chief Financial Officer

Jane is a fitness entrepreneur. She is an IREP Certified Fitness Trainer Level 1 and the Chief Executive Officer/Owner of FIT GYM, Magodo.

An integrated fitness, wellness and beauty complex located in, Lagos.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Abia State University and an MBA from the University of Calabar.

She has a career background in banking before embarking on fitness enterprise which is her passion.

She’s a married proud mother of two boys and also a Fellow of the Institute of registered Exercise Professionals.

Ruby AGU
Communication Officer 2
Ruby is a Lifestyle and Weight Management Specialist, a Fitness Entrepreneur, and a Wellness/Fitness Blogger whose journey into the world of fitness began when she lost 32kg in one year. This led her to begin helping fellow women and mothers like her tackle their weight challenges, motivating them to look beyond their perceived limitations.
A Level 1 fitness trainer certified by the Institute of Registered exercise professionals (IREP), Ruby is sometimes fondly referred to as “the Momtivator”, a reflection of her goal of motivating fellow mothers to appreciate the freedom and confidence that comes with a lifestyle of wellness, to recognise their innate capacity for self-improvement, and to not be afraid to dream big.
Akin Maja (FIREP)
Communication Officer 1

Akin has a Bsc. (Hons) degree in Physics from Royal Holloway (University of London), and is  a Master’s degree (MBA) in Business from Richmond College (The American University in London)

A geek and lover of technology, Akin is a Co-Creator of Safari® and the brains behind the Fuzion Centre.

He was among the first to be awarded Fellowships from IREP (Institute of Registered Exercise Professionals) and allowed to bear the initials FIREP.

Sandra Esosa Awogboro (FIREP)
Social Secretary

Sandra is a licensed Zumba fitness instructor, a Level 1 fitness trainer from the Institute of Registered exercise professionals (IREP) and a fellow of IREP. Social secretary for Guild of Exercise Professionals (GEP).

She has taken part in many fitness events in and outside Lagos. She currently teaches Zumba fitness in Lagos, and a few other places.

She is a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state.

Iwo Akinyoyenu
Assistant Secretary

Iwo started out as a makeup artist in 2002. She went on a journey that has gradually blossomed. Today she is a respected Beauty, Nutrition and Wellness Consultant and fitness expert.

Academically, she fellowships with the IT industry (Computer Science), but her passion led her into the world of wellness.

Iwo is the principal consultant of Erumu Creations, a Beauty and Wellness Consultancy Company that constantly seeks to improve the quality of human life by providing practical solutions for optimum results in health and lifestyle. These include but are not limited to consultations, fitness programs, meal plans, skin care packages (personalised beauty time tables) and makeup services.

Iwo has organised four successful series of Beauty Revealed seminar that has brought beautiful women like Joke Silva, Nimi Akinkugbe, Mavi Isibor, Kaffy, Dr Vivian Oputa, Osayi Oruene, Adesuwa Onyenokwe, Abisola Longe, Nneka Okekearu, Dr Maymunah Kadiri, Pauline Rumm and other beautiful women as facilitators.

As an entrepreneur, she has gone through the esteemed Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan-Atlantic University, where she obtained her Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management – CEM.

Iwo has attended various seminars and trainings including Rise Business School. She is also a certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant by the American Fitness Professionals & Associates – AFPA and is currently underfoing her Pre & Postnatal Fitness Certification.

She is also a mentee at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Business Education, Services and Training Unit).

She ran a wellness club successfully for 3 years – ‘Erobics’ helping members not only lose weight but keep fit, stay healthy, have fun and network. She launched her online course which evolved from iLoseWeightNow to Weight Loss Challenge to Fat Flush Challenge and now Flat Belly 30 Day Challenge which has given birth to the book – Flat Belly In 30 Days; The Secret Formula.

She is also the host of Fit, Fab & Alive, a radio program that inspires and empowers listeners to maintain and enjoy optimum health for peak performance and productivity.

She is happily married and a mother of three divas

Tony Uche Ukaenwe
Secretary

Tony is the Fitness Director of Planetriders Fitness Club and the developer of the Cumbow Fitness Model, an easy to follow exercise routine.

A graduate of  Sociology, Tony also holds a Masters in Public Administration.  He is a certified Gym Stick Instructor (GI) and applies the stick skill in the Cumbow Training using the Cumbow stick.

In 2008, Tony’s passion for fitness for maximum living drove him to establish, Planetriders Fitness Club. The club has since catered to the fitness needs of so many individuals (men, women and children alike).

Via the Planetriders Fitness Club, Tony has organised many major walks. Two of these are particularly outstanding. One is the 52km “My hike My walk”, from the Ikeja Mall to Ikota shopping complex Ajah. This is the longest group walk organised so far in Nigeria. The second is the 15km, “Heart Aid Walk”, which is a yearly event for cardiovascular disease awareness.

Tony conducted a Gymstick tour of all the major gyms and fitness facilities in Ghana in 2011, including the Aviation and Air force gyms. He continues to develop and expand the Cumbow Fitness model to meet the total fitness and rehabilitation needs of every individual and team of persons.

Trisha Maja (FIREP)
Vice President

The Queen of Dance. Trisha’s love for Dance Fitness spans a period over 30 years.

With years of experience teaching fitness classes in the UK and having a wide range of certifications including Zumba, Booiaka, Insanity & PiYo and also a level 2 Certified Personal Trainer (IREP). , Trisha broke new grounds by to co-creating the Safari® program.

She launched FuZion Centre in Nigeria as the first official Zumba instructor back in 2010. She also was the first official Insanity Live instructor in 2015, and the first official PiYo Live instructor in 2016.

Today, her signature classes takes place simultaneously across different locations in Lagos & Abuja in Nigeria and London in UK.

Enee Udo-Obong (FIREP)
President

Enee is a writer, administrator, business man and sportsman.  A  graduate of Human Anatomy from the University of Calabar and a holder of an Advanced Masters in Sports Administration and Technology from The prestigious  École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne(EPFL), in Switzerland.

A U.S and U.K trained certified personal fitness trainer, he is an accomplished athlete, and he is the only Nigerian man to win two Olympic medals. A Gold in Sydney Australia in 2000 and a Bronze in Athens, Greece in 2004. Voted Sportsman of the year 2000, and winner of the DELE UDO prize for sporting excellence, Enee has won the national championships on three occasions and he is a six time medalist at the national sports festival.

Enee is passionate about succeeding on physical, emotional, and nutritional levels. He believes in working out, reaching goals, and then setting more – regardless of your age or physical condition. Enee has experience in a number of areas, including athletic strength and conditioning, weight loss, endurance, geriatric, and general fitness.

Enee specializes in many different types of training, including cross training and plyometrics. He develops customized sports-specific programs, as well as those aimed at enhancing weight-loss, body building and toning, functionality, speed, agility, coordination and stability.

He develops well-rounded programs that include functional movements, strength and high intensity training, and nutrition and weight loss guidance. When you choose to work with him, you get someone who is willing to go above and beyond the basic requirements of the job to help you achieve your goals. Indeed, you may find yourself accomplishing things you’ve never even considered.

Enee was nominated as one of the 50 most influential young Africans by African Digest in 2002, where he also captained Team Nigeria to the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, UK

He is a board member of the Nigerian Olympic Committee,   A member of the Nigerian Olympians Association, A member of the advisory board of the Atlanta 1996 training center in Atlanta, a member of the international Fitness Association (IFA) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as well as other international bodies.

He has served as fitness consultants for TW Magazine, GTBank, Oando, MTN communications and First Bank. He is an IREP fellow and wellness consultant.

He is the CEO of Fitness Options Ltd and Sports Business Network. He has also established the UDO-OBONG ATHLETICS ACADEMY which holds athletics programs and training camps across Africa to promote peace and education through the sports of athletics.
